Royals suffer tough loss to Blazers

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - Away from their home court, the Bethel women's basketball team was held at bay offensively as the Saint Benedict Blazers defeated the Royals 73-36.

The Blazers got ahead early in the game and continued to open up the score as the Royals struggled to catch up.

Leading the Royals in points was Taylor Sheley (Fr., Backus, Minn.) with a total of ten points, along with three rebounds. Annegret Nautsch (Sr., Everett, Wash.) followed Sheley in points with eight. The Blazers were able to hold Nautsch, last season's leader in rebounds in the MIAC with an average of 12.1 per game, to only five rebounds in the game.

The Blazers were led by Danielle Frank who had 15 points and 13 rebounds in the game.  Also leading the scoring for Saint Benedict was Amy Stifter with 13 points.

Bethel now sits at 0-1 in MIAC play and 1-1 overall, while Saint Benedicts improves to 1-0 in the MIAC and 3-1 overall.  The Royals now look to their next game where they are scheduled to return home to play Saint Mary's on Dec. 6, at 1 p.m.
