Jimmy Miller enters his 16th year as an assistant coach on the Bethel staff and 30th year overall of collegiate coaching. Coach Miller greatly enjoys mentoring and teaching the many life lessons that can be learned from playing football.

BETHEL DEFENSE UNDER COACH MILLER
• Since Miller's return to Bethel in 2001, Bethel has never finished lower than fourth in the MIAC in total defense and was first four times
• Ranked first or second in the MIAC in scoring eight times since 2001
• Led the MIAC in rushing defense four times
• Led the MIAC in passing defense twice
• Led the MIAC in interceptions (20) in 2013
• Kirby Carr named the 2006 MIAC MVP as an outside linebacker
• Jon Foss led the NCAA in sacks in 2002 (16)
• Coached 11 first-team All-Conference defensive backs
• Defensive back Brandon Carr named 2007 AFCA All-American
• Defensive back JD Mehlhorn named CoSIDA Academic All-American and awarded the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
• Mehlhorn selected to the 22 member All-State Good Works Team and honored at the 2013 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana
• Defensive back Matt Mehlhorn named D3football.com 2014 Preseason All-American

BEFORE BETHEL
• Served as the head coach at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul, formerly Northwestern College, for ten seasons
• Two-time Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Coach of the Year
• 2000 NCCAA Victory Bowl champions
• Spent four years as the defensive coordinator at the University of Sioux Falls
• Sioux Falls defense ranked fifth nationally in 1988
• 1988 USF team went 10-0 and qualified for the NAIA playoffs for the fist time in program history

HALL OF FAME PLAYING CAREER
• Finished his two-year career at Bethel as the all-time leading tackler and is currently ninth on that list, having coached all but one of the players above him
• 2003 inductee into the Bethel University Athletic Hall of Fame

TEACHING AT BETHEL
• Teaches in the Health and Applied Science department at Bethel

• Jimmy and wife Liz, a Bethel graduate, live in Falcon Heights and have three children; Casey Wahl, who married former Bethel running back Dusty Wahl, Carly and Beau
