Greg Peterson was named Director of Athletics on January 27, 2021. He officially took the position on June 1, 2021 following the retirement of Bob Bjorklund. 

Petie has worked full time at Bethel for the last 23 years. He came on as the Royals sports information director and an assistant men's basketball coach in 1997. His promotion to assistant athletic director in 2005 included the responsibilities of facility management for both Royal Stadium and the Robertson Center, overseeing all aspects of athletic department transportation, serving as an academic liaison on student-athlete progress, along with various other roles.

Peterson has also chaired the Bethel Golf Classic, the department's top fundraising event, helping shatter the record for net profit through a new format in 2019 while still raising significant funds in a new COVID-friendly format in 2020.    


COACHING EXCELLENCE
• Spent 29 years on the Bethel football coaching staff
• Named offensive coordinator in 2003 of Bethel football program
• Had been a part of 350 consecutive Bethel football games as a player and coach, including every game of head coach Steve Johnson's tenure
• 2011 AFCA National Assistant Coach of the Year 
• Since 2010 Bethel has produced the MIAC's leading rusher, passer and receiver
• Four MIAC MVP's on offense
• Ranked in the MIAC's Top 5 in scoring offense in 16 of 17 years as offensive coordinator, including first in 2013
• Top 4 in the MIAC in total offense in 13 of 17 years as offensive coordinator, including first in 2013
• Produced the MIAC's top passing offense in 2013
• Led the MIAC in rushing four times and finished in the Top 3 in 12 of 17 years as offensive coordinator
• Produced the MIAC's top two individual all-time rushing leaders

OFF THE FIELD
• Presented multiple times at the MFCA Minnesota Football Clinic and Glazier Clinics
•  Served as Bethel's assistant athletic director from 2005-2021

ROYAL PLAYING CAREER
• Four-year starter on the Bethel offense from 1988-91
• Member of the Bethel basketball team

FAMILY
• Lives in White Bear Lake with wife Alison; two sons Gunnar and Wyatt, and daughter Marin
