Brooks Byrd joined the Bethel coaching staff in 2019 and works with the Royals cornerbacks. Prior to coming to Bethel, Byrd was the defensive coordinator at Breck School where he helped the team to a 7-1 regular season record in 2018. Byrd spent seven seasons in all as part of the Breck staff after graduating from St. Olaf College in 2012. As a two-year starter at outside linebacker, Byrd helped the Oles to an 8-2 record in his senior season.
As the cornerbacks coach he helped produced 2022 MIAC Rookie of the Year Devin Williams along with three All-MIAC honorees. DB Matthew Feldick finshed his career as a two-time All-MIAC honoree (2021, 2022) while Nate Farm was All-Confrence as a freshman and sophomore (2021, 2022).
Byrd lives in Shoreview with his wife Kelsie, a Bethel University alumna, along with their daughters Isabella and Emmelia and son Jackson. Byrd currently works as the Managing Director of Fixed Income Sales at Hilltop Securities.
