Darin Thompson

Thompson returns to BU for his sixth season after a three-year stint as an assistant with the men's hockey program from 2011-2013. He also served an an assistant and Associate Head Coach for the men's team from 1994-2004. A 1992 graduate of Bethel with a B.A. in Sports Management and minor in Business, Thompson enjoyed a stellar playing career and finished his four years with many marks in the team record book, including most games played and most consecutive game splayed (107 for both). 

Prior to his latest stint coaching at Bethel, Thompson had been highly involved with high school hockey. He served as an assistant at Blaine High School from 2005-2008, where he helped lead the team to the Class AA State Tournament three consecutive seasons. For his roles in team strategy, on-ice instruction, and player development, he earned both Section 4 and Class AA Assistant Coach of the Year honors in the 2006-07 season. After leaving Blaine, he then took the reins as head coach at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis for two seasons.

Thompson currently works at the National Sports Center in Blaine as the Senior Director of Field Sports Programs. He and his wife Stacy reside in Forest Lake with their daughters Bailey and Abigail.
