    Assistant Coach

Dean Stambaugh joined the Bethel University women's basketball staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2024-25 season. 

In 2023-24, he coached at St. Paul Academy after being an assistant women’s basketball coach for two seasons at Concordia University in St. Paul (2021-2023). Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Stillwater Area High School (2017-2021) and helped guide the Ponies to three consecutive MSHSL State Tournaments. He also served as an assistant women's basketball coach at Hamline University (2010-2017), the head girls' basketball coach at Breck High School (2007-10), and as an assistant in the Irondale High School girls' basketball program.

Stambaugh was recognized as the Section 4AAAA Assistant Coach of the Year three times (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21) and as the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association Class AAAA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018-19. He has active memberships in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association (MGBCA).  

His life-long appreciation of sports and the benefits of participation serve as a cornerstone for the values-based coaching philosophy he now shares at Bethel. Stambaugh received his bachelor’s degree in communications, with minors in coaching and music from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1981.
