Howie is in his first season with Bethel University. Before joining Bethel, Howie spent six seasons with the Granite City Lumberjacks as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. In those six seasons Howie recruited teams that won two NA3HL Silver Cups, an NA3HL Division Championship, an MnJHL Regular Season Championship, a MnJHL Playoff Championship, and 2 appearances to the National Tournament. Before joining the Jacks, Howie spent 3 years as an Assistant Coach and Head Scout for the Alexandria Blizzard of the North American Hockey League. While in the NAHL Howie recruited teams that won the Central Division Championship and a berth to the Robertson Cup. Prior to the NAHL, Howie spent 4 years with the Minnesota Ice Hawks as an Associate Coach and Head Scout, helping build a team that won two consecutive MnJHL Playoff Championships, two Regular Season Championships and three straight National Tournament appearances. Coach Borden has also served as a coach with the Midwest Elite II High School League, the Northern Plains USA Hockey Festival, and the South Dakota USA Hockey Development Camp.
