Taylor graduated from Madison Edgewood High School in 2012 where he played hockey and golf. Son of Deb and Daniel Brown, Taylor was on the honor roll, was an All-State selection, was voted Conference Player of the Year, Area Player of the Year, and was awarded the Hobey Baker Character Award. During the playoffs his senior year, his team won 7-6 in the sectional semi-final game, which he recalls as his best performance.
