After transferring in from Itasca Community College after her sophomore year, Grones started a majority of the games for Bethel last season and looks to lead the offense at point guard this season. Grones scored 75 of her 100 points in the final games of 2007-08, including a 22-point performance against Saint Mary's. In that game, she shot 6-for-9 from the floor, including 4-for-5 from behind the three-point arc, and 6-for-8 from the free throw line to lead all scorers. Grones is majoring in media communication with an emphasis on production.
Coach Herbrechtsmeyer says, "Alexa has done a great job adjusting to and learning our system which enabled her to compile as many assists as she did last season. Now that she has a higher comfort level in this program, I have every confidence that she'll be even better this season at shooting the ball and creating opportunities for others."
About Alexa: Grones graduated from Cromwell High School in 2005. During high school she participated and lettered in basketball, cross country, and softball. She also earned awards for Basketball Honorable Mention, Basketball All Conference, and Cross Country All Conference. In her free time, Alexa likes to scrapbook, make videos, and take photos. She is majoring in Media Communications Production. After she graduates from Bethel University, Grones is planning on working with wedding videography and photography.
