MOORHEAD, MINN.—The Bethel University baseball team has clinched at least a share of the 2026 MIAC Baseball Regular Season Championship with an 8-6, 10-3 road sweep of Concordia (Minn.) on Tuesday afternoon. The Royals now have four MIAC Regular Season Championships after also winning it in 2022, 2017, and 2015.
The Royals improve to 28-7, 16-2 MIAC, while the Cobbers fall to 12-21, 6-12 MIAC.
Bethel 8, Concordia 6 (Game One)
Eight-of-nine Bethel starters recorded a hit, which accumulated to nine for the team.
Ben Trucke finished 1-for-1 with a two-run home run in the fifth inning, three walks, and two runs scored. Hayden Sperbeck was 2-for-4 with two doubles, and one run scored. Going 1-for-2 with an RBI double in the first inning, one RBI, one run scored, and one walk was Seth Nelson.Â
Mark Anderson pitched the first 5.1 innings for Bethel. He gave up six hits, six runs, three walks, and notched three strikeouts. Cavan Banks recorded two strikeouts in a 1.2 inning save.
The Cobbers accumulated four doubles, which included two from Jack Primus.
Bethel 10, Concordia 3 (Game Two)
The Bethel pitching staff accounted for 17 strikeouts in the contest. Ted Hohn, who tossed the first 3.0 innings, led the way with six before Roman Lachenmayer had five over the next 3.0 innings to earn the winning decision. Brandon Witter and Tanner Nordrum collectively allowed no hits and notched six strikeouts over the final 3.0 innings.
The Royal offense had 13 hits, seven of which were for extra bases. Sam Abbas finished 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in the first inning, an RBI double in the third, two runs scored, and four RBI. Going 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in the ninth, an RBI double in the third, three RBI, and two runs scored was Seth Nelson.Â
Also collecting a three-hit outing was Oran Hinkle, who was 3-for-5 with one double, and two runs scored. Chris Cannon went 2-for-2 with a double, one run scored, one RBI, a sacrifice fly, a hit by pitch, and one walk. Hayden Sperbeck drew two walks and finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the sixth inning.
The Royals will conclude their 2026 regular season at Saint John's (DH) on Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m.
