Lauryn Douglas and Chris Lavin Named April 27 MIAC Athletes of the Week

ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—Bethel University women's tennis senior Lauryn Douglas, and baseball junior catcher Chris Lavin were each named April 28 MIAC Athletes of the Week.

This is Douglas's fifth career MIAC Athlete of the Week award. 

Douglas finished the week 3-0 from No. 1 doubles, and No. 1 singles. The West, Mankato, Minnesota native's week was highlighted by a 6-3, 6-2 singles win, and a 7-6 (7-5) doubles victory in the Royals' 6-1 loss to No. 23 Gustavus on April 24. Douglas's undefeated week also occurred in Bethel's 7-0 victories over St. Olaf on April 20, and Saint Benedict on April 25.

Douglas and the No. 3 seed Royals will host No. 6 seed Hamline in the 2026 MIAC Women's Tennis Playoffs on Tuesday, April 28 at 4 p.m.

Player of the Week: Chris Lavin (Bethel)
Pitcher of the Week: Dylan Bloom (Saint John's)

Chris Lavin finished the week 10-of-15 (.667) with three runs scored, nine RBI, one home run, one walk, and one hit by pitch. 

The Chandler, Arizona native went 3-for-3 with a grand slam, six RBI, one run scored, and one hit by pitch in a 14-3 win over St. Scholastica in game one on April 21. In the 18-14 loss to CSS in game two, Lavin was 3-for-5 with one run scored, and two RBI. In a 2-0 and 12-7 sweep of St. Olaf on April 25, Lavin was 4-of-7 with one walk.

Lavin and the Royals will travel to Concordia (Minn.) (DH) tomorrow, Tuesday, April 28 for a 1 p.m. start.
