Royals Dominate SJU/CSB Invite

ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Bethel University men's track & field team competed at the Saint John's/Saint Benedict Invite on Thursday, where they took second place out of 10 teams with 175 points. Saint John's won the team title with 194 points. 

Timmy Ball carried the Royals on his shoulders with a first-place mark of 52.63m in the discus, which ranks fifth in NCAA Division III. Philip Conant followed with a fourth-place toss of 44.60m in the discus. 

Ball carried that momentum into the shot put, where he achieved a third-place mark of 15.85m.

The Royals went on to claim a multitude of titles courtesy of Logan Swanson in the 110 meter hurdles (15.19), Grant Nelson in the 400 meter dash (47.60), and Hootie Hage in the 1500 meter run (4:01.65). The 4x400 meter relay squad of Elliott Kent, Tony Haack, Will Sportel, and Logan Swanson registered a first-place time of 3:27.00. 

Second place was the case for Evan Dallas in the 10000 meter run, where he crossed the finish line at 33:52.06. The second-place trend continued courtesy of Logan Swanson in the 400 meter hurdles (56.48), and Caleb Ketterling in the 400 meter dash (49.05). 

Third place was in the cards for Elliott Kent in the 200 meter dash (22.60), Brody Schelhaas in the 400 meter dash (49.67), and Trevor Stundahl in the 400 meter hurdles (57.94).

The Royals will compete at the University of Minnesota Invite on Wednesday, April 22.
