Box Score 2 ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Bethel University tennis teams picked up victories over Springfield at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida on Monday morning with the men winning 4-3, and the women prevailing 5-2. The Royals baseball team's game vs. SUNY-Oneonta (DH) scheduled for Monday at 5:30 p.m. (ET) was canceled due to weather.
BASEBALL
The baseball team's game against SUNY-Oneonta (DH) scheduled for Monday, March 16 at 5:30 p.m. (ET) in Orlando was canceled due to weather. It marked the second-straight day a game has been canceled thanks to mother nature. The Royals will now play two games in Orlando on Tuesday, March 17 against UMass Boston at 12 p.m. (ET), and Worcester State at 5 p.m. (ET).
WOMEN'S TENNIS
Bethel 5, Springfield 2 (BOX SCORE)
The win moves Bethel's record to 8-0, while Springfield falls to 1-2.
The Royals secured the doubles point thanks to a 6-0 win from Lauryn Douglas/Michaella Sullivan at No. 1, and a 6-3 decision from Payton Douglas/Elisabeth Langhus at No. 3.
Douglas carried her stellar play into singles, where she dominated 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1. It was another day at the office for Sullivan, who grinded out a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8) tiebreak win at No. 2 singles. Rounding out the Bethel wins was Malia McKinnon 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, and Zadie Walvatne 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
Langhus dropped a narrow 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) decision at No. 4 singles.
The Royals will face Coe at the Lake Cane Tennis Center on Wednesday, March 18 at 8 a.m. (ET).
MEN'S TENNIS
Bethel 4, Springfield 3 (BOX SCORE)
The Royals claimed doubles courtesy of Dylan Magistad/Carter Sheard 6-4 at No. 1, and Micah Gustafson/Zach Bengtson 6-4 at No. 3.
Carter Sheard took care of business 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1, but it was the bottom of the singles lineup that secured a Royals victory. Kade Bishop prevailed 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at No. 5, while Gustafson dominated 6-0, 6-4 at No. 6.
Watson Sheard dropped a heartbreaking 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (12-10) score at No. 4 singles.
The Royals will face Illinois Wesleyan at the Fort Gatlin Tennis Center in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday, March 17 at 8 a.m. (ET).Â
