Owatonna, Minn. — May 1, 2025 — In a highly competitive MIAC Playoffs semifinal matchup, the Bethel University men's tennis team saw its postseason run come to an end with a 4-0 loss to nationally ranked No. 46 Carleton College at the West Hills Tennis and Fitness Club.
Doubles Recap:
Bethel struggled early in doubles play, dropping matches at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The duo of
Dylan Magistad and
Zack Chaffey fell 6–3 at No. 2, while
Zach Bengtson and
Robert Seaton were also defeated 6–3 at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match, featuring brothers Carter and
Watson Sheard, was left unfinished with the Royals trailing 4–5.
Singles Recap:
Carleton continued their momentum into singles, quickly picking up victories at No. 3 and No. 2 singles, where Chaffey and Magistad fell in straight sets. The clinching point came at No. 5 singles, where
Ryan Reid dropped a tightly contested match, 7–6(4), 7–6(6), to Carleton's Jack Rivkin.
Several matches remained unfinished, including competitive contests at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, where Carter and
Watson Sheard were battling deep into their second sets.

Despite the semifinal exit, Bethel wraps up a strong 2025 season with a 14–7 overall record. The Royals showed grit and growth throughout the year, earning a spot in the MIAC semifinals and competing closely with one of the top-ranked teams in the nation.
