ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Despite collecting 10 hits and holding the Eagles to just three hits, the Bethel University baseball team's 15 game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night. After plating two runs in the fourth the Royals held a 2-0 lead heading into the ninth, before surrendering three runs on two hits to fall to Northwestern 3-2. The Royals are now 24-7 on the year and 13-1 in conference play.
Nick Carlson took the hill for the Royals on Wednesday, tossing six no-hit innings while striking out five Northwestern batters and issuing only one free pass and allowing no earned runs.
With no one out and a runner on first in the fourth,
Andrew Cardenas smacked a line drive down the right field line for an RBI triple to get the Royals on the board.
Joe Meurer later brought home Cardenas on a sacrifice fly to left to open up a 2-0 Bethel lead.
Aidan Nelson came on in relief of Carlson in the seventh and worked one scoreless inning out of the bullpen with one punchout.
Northwestern put together a three run ninth inning on two hits to take a 3-2 lead and win in walkoff fashion.
