BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team earned a 6-2 win over Concordia Saturday night inside Bethel University Arena.
The senior night victory keeps the Royals in second place of the MIAC standings where they have 26 points. They sit five points behind conference-leading Gustavus Adolphus and three ahead of St. Scholastica, St. Olaf and Saint John's.
Tyler Kostelecky scored for the fourth consecutive game and put BU on the board during their second power play of the night just over midway through the first. That lead didn't last long as Concordia evened it up 21 seconds later
Jeremiah Konkel gave the Royals a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission after he light up the lamp with 32 seconds left.
The Royals rattled off four goals in the second, all started by
Tyler Braccini's power play goal at the 6:11 mark.
Connor Brazil made it 4-1 a little over five minutes later before Braccini got his team-leading 16th of the year exactly one minute later.
Joe Kelley wrapped up the scoring with his second of the year making it 6-1 with under three and a half minutes remaining.
The Cobbers tallied the only goal in the third period, which featured eight penalties, four on each squad.
Bethel's penalty kill was 6-for-6 on the night, while BU held a 30-24 edge in shots on goal.
