ST. PETER, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team fell, 4-1, to the No. 7-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College Gusties in the second matchup of their weekend series. The Royals, who narrowly dropped Friday's game to the Gusties, 5-4, move to a MIAC record of 4-8-0 and 9-9-1 overall.
How It Happened:
• The Gusties put on a strong showing in the first period, scoring in the sixth and eighth minutes and edging out the Royals in shots, 11-5.
•
Trinity Jackson narrowed the gap in the second period, catching a pass in the Royals' defensive end, skating it the length of the ice and past multiple Gustie defenders, and drilling a shot into the upper right hand corner at 7:45.
• But, the Gusties responded a few minutes later on the power play, increasing their lead to 3-1.
• The Royals' efforts to make a comeback were thwarted by the tough Gustie defense that held them to just two shots in the third period, and a fourth Gustie goal sealed the final score at 4-1.
What's Next:
The Royals will make the trek to Saint next Friday, Feb. 7, for another MIAC series. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. in Saint Mary's Ice Arena.
