DULUTH, Minn. – Despite out shooting the Saints by a 60-21 margin, the Bethel University women's hockey team fell to St. Scholastica 3-0 Saturday evening in Duluth.
The Royals' penalty kill went 5-for-5 on the night. Bethel had one power play, coming in the opening period, and couldn't put a tally on the scoreboard despite five shots on frame.
After a scoreless first, CSS broke the scoreless tie with 1:45 left before the second intermission. The Saints added an insurance goal 4:58 into the third before adding an empty netter with under four minutes left in regulation.
The Royals also won 42 of the 72 faceoffs.
Brynn Swenson won 17 of those.
