ARDEN HILLS, Minn – The Bethel baseball team extended their winning streak to eight games this afternoon with a doubleheader sweep of the Saint Scholastica Saints.
John Solfest took the mound in the opener Tossing a seven inning complete game shutout, allowing four hits, two walks and striking out four for his fifth win of the season. The Royals won game one by a final score of 4-0.
The Royals jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game two, with a five run second, capped off with a three-run home run to right off the bat of
Matthew Carlsen. The Saints tied the game at five in the fifth. Bethel regained the lead with a three run bottom of the fifth winning by a final score of 9-6. Earning the sweep and improving their record to 21-13 and 13-7 in the MIAC.
Game one Bethel 4, Saint Scholastica 0:
John Solfest got the ball in game one and turned in his third complete game of the season, throwing seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, issuing two free passes and striking out four. The win improves his record to 5-4 on the year.

Nolan Jurgenson RBI single through the right side of the infield got the Royals on the board first.
Matthew Carlsen led off the bottom of third with a double to the right center gap,
Carson Christiansen brought him home on a batter later on a sacrifice fly to right for a 2-0 Bethel lead.
Later in the inning Issac Call brought home the Royals third run of the ballgame with a single to center.
Isaac Call led off the fifth with a homer to left his third of the season giving the Royals a 4-0 lead that ended up being the final.
Game two Bethel 9, Saint Scholastica 6:
With two on and nobody out in the bottom of the second
Jordan Krupke hit a sharp single to center bringing home the game's first run.
Matthew Carlsen capped off the five-run second inning with a towering three-run bomb to right field, his seventh of the season and a 5-0 Royals lead.
The Saints tied the game at five in the fifth on a sacrifice fly to center.
The Royals regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning on a
Xavier Lortie single to right, bringing home
Isaac Call. Adding on later in the inning courtesy of a
Noah Wenberg single to center plating a pair for an 8-6 Bethel lead.
Max Sutter tossed four innings out of the bullpen allowing one earned run, striking out two and earning his first save of the season.
Matthew Carlsen led off the bottom of the eight with a double to left center,
Isaac Call brought him home with a two out bloop single to right for a 9-6 lead.
