Box Score 2 ARDEN HILLS, Minn – The Bethel baseball team won the opening game of their doubleheader with Augsburg thanks to a 3-for-3 day at the plate from
Carson Christiansen. The Royals grabbed an early 5-0 lead in game one, before Christiansen doubled deep to the right centerfield gap bringing home two runs and extending the lead to 7-0, winning by a final score of 7-2.
Game two headed to extra innings tied at 9-9 before play was suspended after the 11th due to darkness. The game will be resumed Wednesday at 5pm
Game one Bethel 7, Augsburg 2
Ty Koehn took the mound for the Royals in game one throwing 6.0 innings allowing just one earned run, four hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Koehn picked up the win in the process, his third of the season improving his record to 3-3.
Brody Schneider led off the third with a triple to right center, One batter later a
Noah Wenberg grounder to short brought home the game's first run.
The Royals added on in the fourth with a RBI single to right center off the bat of
Isaac Call,
Sam Abbas extended the lead to 3-0 with a sac fly to straight away center.
Noah Wenberg broke the game open with a two out two RBI double down the left field line one hopping the wall to make it a 5-0 game.
The Royals pushed across two more in the fifth, when Carson Chritiansen split the right centerfield gap for a two RBI double capping off his 3-for-3 day at the plate in game one.
Game two Bethel 10, Augsburg 9 (12 inns.)
A pair of singles in the second gave the Auggies an early 1-0 lead. The Royals responded in the bottom half of the inning,
Zach Thompson lined a double to left center plating
Isaac Call from second and tying the game at 1-1.
The Royals took the lead in the fourth on a
Zach Thompson single up the middle, later in the inning
Noah Wenberg hit a bloop single into shallow center plating a pair and extending the Bethel lead to 4-1.
Augsburg struck for eight in the top half of the fifth, batting around and taking a 9-4 lead.

Matthew Carlsen–setting the career record for runs with 152.
Zach Thompson singled through the left side of the infield cutting the deficit to 9-7.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the eighth Nolan Jurgensen hit a high chopper to third, beating the throw to first for an infield single and tying the game at 9-9.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th
Noah Wenberg singled through the left side of the infield bringing home the winning run for a 10-9 walkoff win and sweep of the Auggies.

The Royals continue their 11 game homestand Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader matchup with Saint Mary's. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m.
