After a 2-0 victory last night, the Bethel women's hockey team surrendered a loss to the College of St. Benedict Bennies, 4-1. The loss brings the Royals to a record of 3-3-0 in the MIAC and 4-3-1 overall.
How It Happened:
• Looking to avenge last night's loss, the Bennies came out hard in the first two periods, outshooting the Royals, 24-12. They built a hefty lead in the second, scoring three times at 2:14, 4:49, and 16:39. The Royals headed into the third with a sizable deficit looming over their heads
• The Bennies added to their lead seven minutes into the third period, making it a 4-0 game. But, the Royals continued to fight back, and on a power-play opportunity,
Brynn Swenson lobbed the puck from just inside the offensive zone into the upper lefthand corner of the Bennies' goal off of a pass from
Siri Olson, and the Royals broke onto the scoreboard at 14:47.
• Still, the late rally wasn't enough to match the Bennies' dominant performance throughout the game, and Royals fell, 4-1.
