ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The No. 11th-ranked and top-seeded Bethel University softball team defeated the No. 4 seeded Gustavus Adolphus Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the MIAC Playoffs, 1-0, advancing to the MIAC Championship scheduled for 4 p.m. at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
BU will take on the winner of semifinal number two of the day between Saint Benedict and St. Olaf.
Kayla Simacek carried her regular-season dominance into the postseason, throwing a complete game shutout with no walks and eight strikeouts.
She brought a perfect game into the sixth until the Gusties second hitter of the inning singled to left.

Lexi DeBace from second.
Stranding two in the third and a leadoff double in the sixth, DeBace would be the deciding run while Simacek mowed down the Gusties final six hitters.
