No. 11 Royals Earn Shutout Sweep of Concordia

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Right-hander Kayla Simacek tossed 13 scoreless innings in the No. 11th-ranked Royals sweep of Concordia. BU used early scoring for a 6-0 victory in game one before earning an 8-0 run rule victory in game two.

Simacek struck out a combined 29 hitters with 15 Ks in game one and 14 in game two. She issued one walk, which came on a pitch clock violation that was ball four, and surrendered three hits.

In the leadoff spot, Allie Fauth-Kilgore was 4-for-6 with three runs and five stolen bases. Lexi DeBace, Autumn Earney and Mikaela Girard all drove in two runs on the day.

Game 1: #11 Bethel 6, Concordia 0
• BU put up a crooked number in its first at bat, all coming with two outs and the help of a Concordia error. Kayla Hokanson's RBI single through the right side scored the game's first run before she came around to score on Autumn Earney's double to left.
• Cortney Hokanson led off the second with a single through the left side before scoring on a double play.
• Allie Fauth legged out an infield single before swiping second and third. She would score on a RBI single from DeBace.
• Simacek through five innings tallied 10 Ks while BU built a five-run lead.
• Sidney Bartels sacrifice fly brought in K. Hokanson making it 6-0.

Game 2: #11 Bethel 8, Concordia 0
• A four-run second brought the Bethel bats alive in game two.
• Simacek retired the first 10 she faced before the no hitter was broken up on a single to left.
• It was Fauth again legging out an infield single before moving up with a stolen base. DeBace's infield single to the right side allowed the speedy Fauth to make it 5-0.
• A pinch-hit solo shot to center for Madi O'Connor sparked a three-run sixth.
