Spring break trips continued for the Bethel University baseball and softball teams who each came away with wins today. Baseball picked up a huge victory knocking off No. 5th-ranked Rowan 11-4. Softball picked up a pair of wins over Washington College with an 8-0 victory in the opener before walking off the Shorewomen 5-4. Both men's and women's tennis squads each kicked off their four-match spring break trip against Greenville. The women came out on a top with a clean 9-0 sweep while the men fell by a 9-0 score.
The Royals stayed undefeated on their spring trip with a 11-4 win over Rowan University Monday morning.
On the mound,
John Solfest pitched five innings for the Royals, giving up three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.
Matthew Carlsen sparked Bethel's offense with a three run home run in the third and the Royals put Rowan away in the the seventh with five runs from a
Ty Koehn RBI single, a
Nick Kulseth two run single, a
Marcus Krupke RBI triple, and scored one more run on a Rowan error.
Pitchers
Michael Meadows and
Jordan Axberg combined to pitch the final four innings, giving up only one combined run with Meadows striking out three and Axberg striking out four.

The Royals took care of business in game one defeating Washington 8-0.
Game two proved to be much closer where the teams each tallied 12 hits. In the top of the seventh, Washington put a runner in scoring position with one out before an RBI single scored the go-ahead run for the Shorewomen.
BU got an leadoff single from
Autumn Earney in the bottom half of the frame before the ball skipped past the center fielder allowing Earney to move up to second.
Cortney Hokanson singled as the speedy Earney came around tying it at 4-4. Back-to-back walks of
Izzy Wilhelm and
Mandalyn Franks loaded the bases.
Jordyn Rudolph provided the late game heroics as a grounder to the pitcher forced a throw to the plate that was off the mark and scoring pinch runner
Molly Closser.
Kayla Simacek got the win in the circle for both games. She struck out six in game two while issuing no walks.

The Royals moved their win streak to six defeating the Panthers with a clean sweep. BU's top two doubles duos each won 8-1 while the No. 3 pair won 8-2.
Winning their sixth straight singles match was No. 1
Lauryn Douglas (6-1, 6-3) and No. 2
Julia Baber (4-6, 6-2, 10-5). No. 4
Emma Thole won her third straight doing so by not dropping a game.

Bethel dropped its second straight match falling to the Panthers, 9-0.
Jackson Meyer at No. 1 singles had the closes match of the night. He took the opening set 6-3 before dropping the second 3-6. Battling the the super tiebreaker he fell 7-10.
All four squads return to competition on Tuesday, March 14.
