ROGERS, Minn. – Dueling out multiple match points and pulling out super tie breakers in singles play, the Bethel University men's tennis team earned a hard fought 5-4 victory over St. Olaf Friday evening in a conference clash at Rogers Tennis Center.
With their second straight victory the Royals improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in MIAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• BU went up 2-1 after doubles play highlighted by a big win by
Dylan Magistad and
Robert Seaton at No. 2 doubles in a tiebreaker.
• Four of the six singles matches went into super tie breakers where BU came out on top in two of them.
• Freshman
Jackson Meyer at No. 1 singles stormed back after dropping the opening set 1-6. He took the second 6-4 forcing a super tie breaker. Fending off multiple match points he took the tie breaker 11-9.
• Freshman
Dylan Magistad also had to make a comeback at No. 2 doubles. Also dropping the first set he stormed back in the second winning in a tiebreaker to force the super tie breaker taking it 13-11.
• Sophomore
Brett Eliason had the third singles wins taking No. 5 by a 6-1, 6-3 score.
