MILWAUKEE – The Bethel men's hockey team dropped its second game of the season in a non-conference matchup against the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 4-1. The Royals move to 5-2-2 overall on the season.
How It Happened:
• The Raiders struck early on a backhanded goal, earning the scoreboard advantage over the Royals less than two minutes into the game.
• BU fought for a goal of its own throughout the period, finally notching one when
Luke Posner created an opportunity, walking the puck into the zone for a shot.
Sam Wilhite knocked in the rebound at 15:52 to put BU on the board and sending the teams tied into the first intermission.
• The Royals' offense showed promise in the opening minutes of the second period, but a Raider breakaway yielded their second goal of the night just five minutes in. BU found themselves outshot 10-9, inhibited by three penalties in the period, and unable to even the score.
• MSOE pounded the final nails in the coffin late in the third period, scoring on a sneaky backhand at 14:50 and again–shorthanded–at 16:16. BU tried to find the back of the Raider net as the seconds melted away but couldn't capitalize on any opportunities.
• Bethel's penalty kill was 7-for-7 on the night while the power play unit went 0-for-4.
What's Next:
The Royals will make the trip from Milwaukee, Wis., down to Aurora, Ill., where they will take on the Aurora University Spartans in their second game of the weekend Sunday evening at 5 p.m.
