ROGERS, Minn. – The message was simple, win and you're in. And win is exactly what the Bethel University men's tennis team did over St. Scholastica Saturday afternoon indoors, 9-0.
The victory moves the Royals to 10-8 overall at the end of the regular season and 5-4 in MIAC matches. BU will be the No. 5 seed in the MIAC Playoffs and travel to No. 4-seeded Saint John's Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The Johnnies narrowly edge the Royals earlier this year in Arden Hills, 6-3.
There was never a doubt as BU went up 3-0 quickly picking up wins in all doubles matches.
Erik Beckers and
Jason Reilly made the most of their senior day with their third straight doubles victory.
Jacob Lukkarila and
Luke Wyly did not drop a single game at No. 2
Wyly pulled out a super tiebreaker win at No. 4 helping the Royals to a clean sweep.
Jason Reilly closed out the day not dropping a game in the second set winning 6-4, 6-0.
Steven Benoy at No. 5 was the other Royal who had a set where he didn't drop a game winning 6-0, 6-2.
