The spring break trip of fun in the sun continues for the Bethel Royals. Baseball picked up a a sweep of Saint Micheal's College while the men's tennis squad earned a victory over Transylvania. Softball added a pair of shutouts bringing the Royals combined win count for the day to five.

The Royals improved to 6-3 on the year with their second straight 8-1 victory, this time against Transylvania.
Jacob Lukkarila and
Luke Wyly both extended their winning streaks to five in singles play and four as a doubles duo.
In singles play,
Erik Beckers won in convincing fashion 6-1, 6-1 while
Steven Benoy dropped one one game in the first set at No. 5 singles. Brett Elliason took No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-3.

For the second time in as many games the Bethel University women's tennis team was narrowly defeated 5-4, this time by a 13-2 Transylvania squad.
Grace Riermann and
Sydney Rott picked up the lone doubles point with their 10th straight victory. Riermann in singles play dropped a long game in set one improving to 10-0 while Rott moved to 7-3 on the year winning 6-3, 6-4.
Cady Peterson had BU's fourth point winning No. 6 singles in a super tiebreaker. She took the opening set 6-4 before dropping the second 3-6. Peterson toughed it out in the third set tiebreaker taking it 10-6.
The Royals No. 3, 5 and 5 singles players were defeated in straight sets.

Between the two games, Bethel accounted for 22 hits on 30 runs. They also drew a combined 22 walks, 17 of which came in game one.
Despite the Royals scoring a run in the bottom of the first in game one, Saint Michael's College went up 4-1 putting up crooked numbers in the third and fourth.
Bu the BU bats came alive from there scoring two in the fourth, eight in the fifth and six in the sixth. Ty Kohen drove in four of Bethel's four runs going 2-for-2 while
Caleb Brandt and
Andrew Cardenas accounted for two RBIs each.
In game two, it was
Luke Carlson who tallied four RBIs thanks in part to a three-run shot over the left field fence in the fifth.
Nick Kulseth tripled and singled brining in a pair during his 2-for-4 game crossing the plate three times.
Matthew Carlsen had BU's other triple in the game while he went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Blake Williams got the win in game one adding 2.2 innings of shutout relief while starter
Marcus Krupke got the win in game two.

Simacek picked up back-to-back shutouts over a combined 13 innings of work where she struck out a combined 20 hitters. She gave up no walks and just six hits.
Lexi DeBace reached base on seven of her eight plate appearances scoring twice and stealing a combined four bags.
In game one BU took an early 1-0 lead scoring in its first at bat. The lead grew in the fourth as Autum Earney blasted her first collegiate home run over the right field wall.
The Royals added two in the fifth with a RBI groundout from
Jamie Axelberg followed by a RBI single form
Kayla Hokanson. DeBace scored the lone run in the sixth.
Simacek finished with 12 Ks in the complete game effort.
Scoreless through three in game two K. Hokanson singled to lead off the home half of the fourth eventually scoring on an error as the Plattsburgh catcher tried to retire her at second.
Simacek forced a Plattsburg St. runner to be stranded in scoring position in the fifth. While BU stranded one in the bottom half of the frame.
The Royals produced a crooked number in the bottom of the sixth taking advantage of an error and then a bunt single by
Allie Fauth.
Lightening caused a delay in the top of the seventh before the game was eventually called.
