Royals Drop Another Heartbreaker to Cobbers, 2-1

BLAINE, Minn. - The Bethel University women's hockey team was dealt another tough one goal loss Sunday afternoon against Concordia College. The Cobbers scored the games first and last goals to take the series with a 2-1 victory over the Royals. All three of the games goals were scored on power plays. The Royals had a first period power play and another at the end of the second and beginning of the third in which they put a total of 10 shots on goal but were kept out of the net. Julia McAlpin scored the Royals goal during a late second period power play. Mallory Tidona made 37 saves in net for the Royals, stopping double digit shots in each period.

After a scoreless first period, the Cobbers struck first with a score at 6:21 in the second period. McAlpin's goal was assisted by Megan Johnson and Emily Wiltse and came at 17:36 in the second. The Concordia game winner came at 13:47 in the third period.

The Royals have been on the wrong end of one goal outcomes in three of their last four games with the other being a tie, falling to 6-10-1 overall and 4-6-1. Bethel will look to flip the script next weekend in the final regular season series when they host Saint Mary's University on Friday and travel to Winona on Saturday.
