BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime decision to Saint Benedict Saturday night. Despite the loss, under the new point system the Royals earned their first point in the MIAC standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Bennies scored late in the first despite the Royals outshooting CSB 10-6 in the period.
• CSB went up 2-0 with another late goal, this time with 5:01 left in the second.
• Skating with a 5-on-3 advantage, the Royals started the comeback with
Lindsey Muntifering scoring her first goal of the year.
• Bethel added another power play goal less than a minute later as
Kallie Abrahamson following clean tape-to-tape passing with
Megan Johnson from the blue line onto the doorstep of the Bennies' netminder.
• A scoreless third forced overtime where the Bennies won it 50 seconds in.
• The Royals led the shots on goal battle 28-22.
