BLANE, Minn. – Despite striking first the Bethel University women's hockey team surrendered a three goal second period to No. 2-ranked Gustavus Adolphus eventually falling in the series opener, 4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bethel struck first lighting up the lamp 12:37 into the first.
McKayla Machlitt scored the rebound shot after
Lindsey Muntifering shot on the doorstep of the Gustie netminder was saved.
• BU took that one goal lead into the intermission and would start the second on the power play.
• Gustauvs tied it up two seconds after the Royals killed off their first penalty of the night.
• The Royals killed off one more in the second while also having a man advantage themselves.
• The Gusties added two more less than a minute apart making it 3-1 heading into the third.
• BU was outshot 13-5 in the third period where GAC added one more.

The Royals will play against Gustavus in St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday Nov. 19 at 2 p.m.
