BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team saw goals from all four of its lines tonight defeating St. Olaf 4-1 in the series final Saturday evening.
The star of the night was netmider
Ridge Gerads who stopped 23 shots while the Oles only goal came with an extra attacker.
Bethel took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission thanks to BU's top line of the night with sophomore
Carter Wagner scoring his third of the year. Picking up his team-leading 13 assist of the year was
Jarrett Cammarata.
The Royals were forced to kill of a couple of penalties in the second, to which they were successful. With two minutes to go
Luke Posner went the length of the ice being a pair of St. Olaf defensemen. His shot at the doorstep of the Oles netminder was stopped before swooping in was
Ben Doherty for the cleanup shot and lighting the lamp with 1:40 left.
Bethel killed off its fourth and finally penalty of the night early in the third before
Nick Ketola scored his third of the year moving the advantage to 3-0 at the 12:30 mark. Ketola had a nice pass from
Sam Wilhite to the front of the net where Ketola one timed it.
St. Olaf brough on an extra skater with just over three minutes remaining as they denied Bethel of its fourth shutout of the year.
Dylan Giorgio put in the empty netter with 1:40 remaining scoring his team-leading eighth goal of the year.
The Royals are back on their home ice Friday against Hamline. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
