Tommies Halt Royals Five-Game Winning Streak

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Winners of its last five games, the Bethel University baseball team had that winning streak ended at the hands of top-seeded St. Thomas Thursday afternoon in the MIAC Playoffs, 7-2.

Fifth-seeded Bethel moved down to the loser's bracket where they will face the loser of third-seeded Saint Mary's versus second-seed Gustavus Adolphus. The elimination game is set to take place at 3 p.m. in Collegeville.

Keenan Hodgkin launched his first long ball of the year in the third putting Bethel on the board first.

The Tommies evened it up at one scoring its leadoff double in the fourth. A crooked number in the fifth put UST on top where it stayed for the remainder of the game.

The Royals pulled within 3-2 as Nick Wibben scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a walk and moving to third on a double from James Woelfel.

Starter Ty Koehn departed with one out in the eighth before St. Thomas put up a four spot in the eighth. BU loaded the bases up in the ninth before a pair of strikeouts ended the threat.
