ST. PETER, Minn. – The Bethel University women's basketball team fell to 3-3 on the year and 3-2 in the MIAC following a 63-54 loss at Gustavus Adolphus Monday evening.
Elizabeth Schwarz tallied a game-high 14 points to go along with six boards while
Kat Brown-Erdal chipped in 13 points. Off the bench,
Emma Schultz matched a career-high 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
Gustavus opened the game on a 7-0 run before the Royals battled back with threes from Brown-Erdal and
Jennifer Hicks near the end of the first for a 17-15 lead. A sloppy second quarter that saw each team turn it over eight times, led the Gusties to outscore BU 12-9 which gave them a one-point advantage at the break.
The Royals couldn't land the 3-ball going 1-for-7 in the third quarter allowing Gustavus to open up the lead to as many as eight. Things didn't get better for the Royals from behind the arc missing all eight attempts in the fourth. All 12 of BU's fourth quarter points came in the paint.
Bethel held the edge on points in the paint for the game, 40-34.
Up next, the Royals welcome St. Thomas one last time to the Robertson Center before the Tommies transition to Division I. Â What is sure to be a great MIAC matchup tips off at 2 p.m.
