ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – With a season-high nine 3-pointers the Bethel University women's basketball team picked up its second straight conference victory defeating Concordia 74-56.
The Royals shot 64.3 percent from behind the arc while shooting a season-best 52.3 percent from the field. BU out rebounded the Cobbers 33-21 while narrowly holding the edge on points in the paint 28-26.
Makenna Pearson knocked down four treys in route to a season-high 22 points.
Hayden Glander finished with 13 points and a team-high three steals while
Courtney Nuest chipped in 12 points and four assists. Pearson and Nuest each lead with a game-high seven rebounds.
Bethel started hot from the field going 7-of-10 in the opening quarter where they led 19-17. It slowed down a bit in the second, but the Royals got to the charity stripe knocking down six of eight free throws.
Three of the four makes in the second came from behind the arc as Bethel finished 6-of-8 from 3-point range in the first half. Shooting an even 50 percent from the floor, BU took a 36-27 advantage into the break.
BU's defense had its best performance in the third holding the Cobbers to 28.6 percent from the field. In the meantime, BU kept its offense on a roll with threes from Glander and Nuest.
The Royals expanded on their 54-39 lead with their best scoring quarter of the night. They went 5-of-7 from the field in the fourth while getting to the line 12 times with nine makes. A driving bucket from Nuest at the 1:49 mark gave BU its largest lead of the evening at 70-52.
Bethel takes it 3-5 record and 2-3 mark in MIAC play on the road traveling to Saint Mary's Saturday.
