BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team closed out 2021 earning a convincing 4-0 non-conference victory over Lake Forest College Friday evening inside Bethel University Arena.

The team's ring in the new year tomorrow closing out the series in Blaine at 4 p.m.

Luke Posner tallied his team leading sixth goal of the year getting BU on the board 2:58 into the first with assists from Jack Bayless and Jarrett Cammarata.

Bethel's penalty kill, the NCAA Division III leaders, started a somewhat busy night killing off the first of five Foresters' power players.

Leading 1-0 after the first 20 minutes, BU killed another penalty in the opening minutes of the second before going on a scoring streak.

Adam Bricker got his second goal of the season 12:14 into the period as Dylan Giorgio and Jacob Papesh tallied assists.

Giorgio added his second point of the night lighting the lamp with under three minutes to go in the second. Andrew Revering scored his first collegiate goal while BU was on the power play making it 4-0.

Bethel couldn't connect on its three power plays in the third. But on the other end of the ice, netminder Ridge Gerads preserved the shutout while the Royals fended off three more penalty kills including a 5-on-3 situation for a 1:03.

Gerads picked up his second shutout of the year with 24 saves.
