BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced Wednesday afternoon that member schools will play conference-only competition for sports that compete in the fall 2020 segment. Start dates, if competition is supported, would tentatively be September 19 for team sports and September 4 for individual sports.

Bethel University President Ross Allen announced in June that students in all schools will be returning to Bethel University for the fall semester. Based on the elimination of early season non-conference competition, Bethel athletics will reassess move-in dates for fall sports that align with NCAA bylaws. Student-athletes will receive updates from their coaches as they become available.

MIAC administrators and staff have met weekly throughout the summer to develop protocols, expectations, and best practices for the possible return of athletics this fall. With new information and guidelines being shared by the NCAA and public health officials regularly, the conference will continue to evaluate options over the next several weeks before making a final decision on how and when athletics will return to MIAC campuses.
