BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – A pair of Royals were recognized at the conference level for their outstanding performances from this past week. Senior
Taite Anderson earned her fourth MIAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week honor this season while senior
Delia Labatt was named MIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week.
Taite Anderson logged a 25-point, 12-rebound double-double effort in a 71-55 victory over nationally-ranked Augsburg last Wednesday to lead Bethel to its first MIAC regular-season championship since 1994. The senior forward then poured in 24 points and grabbed nine boards against Saint Benedict on Saturday, extending the Royals' home winning streak to 18 games. Anderson shot 63.3 percent (19-for-30) from the field on the week, going 3-for-3 behind the arc and 8-for-10 from the charity stripe.
Anderson is one of two players since 1997-98 to earn MIAC Athlete of the Week at least four times in one season. The other being
Hannah Johnson who earned it five times during the 2017-18 season.
Delia Labatt ran a season-best time in her specialty, the 400m edging out a field of University of Minnesota runners with a time of 57.43 which ranks seventh nationally. Labatt and the Royals' 4x400 relay then ran away from a field that included the Golden Gophers to win in a time of 3:51.81. That is the fastest time in school history on a flat 200m track and the fastest time in Division III this season.
