NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The No. 10-ranked Bethel University women's basketball team allowed only two second quarter points, both of which came on free throws, paving the way for a 67-42 victory at Carleton Wednesday evening.
Collecting its 10th win away from home this year the Royals remain one of four undefeated teams in the nation at 16-0 and are 11-0 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. BU closes out a three-game road trip at Hamline this Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Senior forward
Taite Anderson tallied her third double-double this season with a game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds. Junior forward
Makenna Pearson added 10 points and two block shots.
Kat Brown-Erdal,
Haylee Barker and
Tessah Anderson all chipped in seven points respectively.
Carleton led a majority of the first quarter holding an 11-8 advantage after the first 10 minutes. The tides quickly turned with the Royals defense forcing the Knights to go 0-for-7 from the field in the second quarter.
The Knights sank both ends of a two shot foul with 4:37 remaining before Pearson knocked down a pair of threes giving BU a 26-13 lead at the break.
Bethel committed one turnover in the third outscoring Carleton 23-10 on 9-of-15 (60 percent) shooting. A jumper by Barker in the paint gave BU its largest lead of the contest at 63-26 with 7:04 remaining.
The defense forced 26 turnovers turning that into 31 points on the other end.
