Jill Weinzettel surpassed
Mattie Kidder to become the Bethel University women's tennis career wins leader with 114 wins.
The Royals kicked off the day with an 8-1 non-conference victory over Grinnell College before sweeping St. Olaf in a 9-0 decision to conclude the day. Bethel, now 6-1 on the year and 2-0 in MIAC play, takes on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse next Saturday at 12:30 p.m. inside Lifetime Fitness in White Bear Lake, Minn.
Bethel's doubles took care of business winning all six matches. Weinzettel paired with
Mackenzie Novak took both their sets by an 8-4 score. Grace and
Maggie Riermann in the top doubles match extend their win streak to three with an 8-2 decision versus Grinnell and 8-3 against the Oles top doubles duo.
The Royals continue to dominate the upper half of their singles lineup staying undefeated as a team in those top-3 matches.
Grace Riermann stayed perfect in No. 1 singles battling to a pair of two set wins. Both matchups Riermann went the distance in the tiebreaker in the second set. Of the 29 games played through four sets, Novak dropped just five games Saturday as the No. 3 singles player.
Weinzettel did work at the No. 4 singles showing no signs of fatigue. She defeated Grinnell's Judith Fan 6-3, 6-2 before defeating St. Olaf's Teresa Fawcett 6-2, 6-3. At No. 5 singles
Sydney Rott started the day with a 7-5, 6-4 win before taking a three setter from the Oles by scores of 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 10-7.
