FRIDLEY, Minn. - In its only match of the weekend, the Bethel University men's tennis team rolled through straight sets to defeat Northwestern College Friday evening, 9-0.

Drew Fernelius. "The guys came out and really took care of buisness tonight and we look forward to next week against the UMAC favorite St. Scholastica and Wisconsin's best in UW-Eau-Claire. We look forward to another week of practice and improving."
The Royals No. 1 doubles team of veteran

Erik Beckers won in a solid 8-1 decision.
Zach Kantor and
Nick Knudsen battled at No. 2 doubles match coming out on top 8-1. BU swept the doubles competition as
Joey Mueller and
Jason Reilly took the No. 3 doubles match in clean fashion 8-0.
Fernelius returned to the court as the Royals No. 1 singles played to a 6-2, 6-1 decision. Staying perfect as a Royal was Beckers who did not drop a game at No. 2. Kantor at No. 3 singles won 6-1, 6-0 while
Nick Knudsen took No. 4 singles in straight sets at 6-0, 6-0. Reilly at No. 5 took a clean 6-0 first set before securing another point for the Royals with a 6-2 decision in set two. Mueller rounded out a strong singles team at No. 6 winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
The Royals return to action next weekend in a pair of non-conference matchups. Bethel will host the College of St. Scholastica on Friday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. before taking on UW-Eau Claire Saturday, Feb. 9 at 9 a.m.
