Men’s Hockey Halted by No. 13 St. Thomas in Series Finale

BLAINE, Minn. – After taking the series opener Friday night, the Bethel University men's hockey team dropped the series finale to No. 13 St. Thomas Saturday evening inside Bethel University Arena, 5-1.

Five unanswered goals from the Tommies dropped Bethel to 2-4-1 on the year and 1-2-1 in the MIAC. The Royals will host a pair of non-conference games next week at Bethel University Arena against Concordia-Wisconsin on Friday, Nov. 29 and Marian University on Nov. 30. Puck drop is 7 p.m. both nights.

Bethel got on the board first for the second straight night as Jarrett Cammarata's (Dylan Giorgio) shot from just inside the blue line got past the UST goaltender. That was Cammarata's third goal of the season scoring now in back-to-back contests.

Netminder Ridge Gerads kept the Tommies off the board in the opening period with 19 stops. He would go on to finish the night with a career-high 47 saves.

In the second, UST scored three straight all within the span of five minutes of each other. A few of whcih off of rebounds and lose puck opportunities in the crease.

While not having a ton of looks, the few Bethel did have were good but off the mark. The Royals could not capitalize on a pair of third period power plays as UST widen the margin with under seven minutes left.

BU made one last effort pulling Gerads at the 3:40 mark but UST was able to sink an empty net goal from their defensive zone with 2:34 left putting it well out of reach.
