RIVER FALLS, Wis. – A career-high 29 point effort from senior guard
Taite Anderson led the Bethel University women's basketball team to an 87-52 win Wednesday evening at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
A 51-point second half effort improved Bethel to 3-0 making it the second straight season and fourth time in the last seven years in which the Royals have won their first three contests of the year. The Royals enter MIAC play Saturday when the play host to Hamline at 3 p.m.
Three other Royals reached double figures with Anderson, including a pair of 13 point efforts from
Makenna Pearson and
Kat Brown-Erdal.
Bella Williams rounded out the top scorers with 12.
The Royals got out to a quick start with their first four buckets coming on layups. Bethel gave up the lead twice in the first but a pair of free throws from Anderson at the 2:02 mark gave BU the lead back for the remainder of the contest.
Anderson got back to the charity stripe – where she was 5-of-5 in the first half – giving Bethel its largest lead of the first half at 36-19 with 2:02 left.
One thing Bethel has done consistently this year is coming out of the locker room with a strong start to the second half. That's exactly what Bethel did with its highest scoring quarter of the year thanks to a 30-17 advantage in the third.
The margin continued to grow as Anderson's layup with 7:21 left in the game gave Bethel its largest least of the contest at 78-42.
In the contest, Bethel dominated the inside game with a 58-22 advantage on points in the paint and forced the Falcons to 28 turnovers.
