Bethel Drops Weekend Opener to Northland, 5-0

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team opened its weekend of non-conference play with a 5-0 loss to Northland Friday night inside Bethel University Arena.

Bethel drops to 1-2-1 on the year and will have its hands full tomorrow night hosting the No. 5-ranked Pointers from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

The visiting Lumberjacks used goals in the first two periods before three goals in the third, two of which came in the final minute, sealed the deal.

Northland scored six minutes into the contest taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. In the second period Bethel had opportunities outshooting the Jacks 11-9 but it was Northland who came away with a power play goal with 25 seconds left.

In the third, the Lumberjacks went up three goals just 4:09 into the period. Bethel killed off a delay of game penalty before Northland scored an empty netter with 38 seconds remaining.
