Jakob Bartels gets win in Royals 1-8 loss to Johnnies

Following a postponed match on Wednesday, Bethel university men's tennis team was back in action Friday night with a match against Saint Johns University at the Baseline Tennis Center on the University of Minnesota campus. The Royals (4-6, 1-4 MIAC) fell to the Johnnies (10-2, 4-0 MIAC) by a final score of 1-8.

The Royals were swept in doubles play but were able to put up a strong fight in multiple singles matches. In the No. 5 match, Zeke Delain dropped the first set 2-6 but rocketed back with a 6-0 win in the second to knot the match at 1-1. Delain fell short in the tie breaker set 10-7. Jakob Bartels pulled out the lone win for Bethel. After losing the first set 2-6, Bartels battled back to win two straight and take the match.

BU will look to bounce back against Macalester College April 12 at 8 p.m. This match will also take place at the Baseline Tennis Center. The Scots enter the matchup with a 7-4 record including wins in their last two matches.
