Royals Finish Weekend Double Header with win over Cobbers

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. - Bethel University women's tennis had their second match in three days as they faced off against Concordia College Sunday afternoon. The Royals (6-1, 3-0 MIAC) swept singles play to ensure a 9-1 conference victory over the Cobber's (3-11, 0-5 MIAC).
The Royals started the match with singles play which began with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win by
Maggie Riermann in No. 1 singles.
Mattie Kidder and
Mackenzie Novak followed up with two wins of their own.
Sami Hindt and
Meghan Schuler each got straight set wins in the No. 4 and 5 singles matches respectively. Freshman
Grace Johnson stepped in and got a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 6 singles match to complete the singles sweep for BU. No. 1 doubles team Riermann and Kidder won their match 8-2 while Novak and Kelly Peterson won 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles match.
"We were missing a few players, but we showed some of our depth with this win," Head coach
Drew Fernelius said. "We are off to Hawaii on Thursday, so we are excited for that."
Bethel tennis is off to Hawaii! The Royals leave for the Aloha state on Thursday and are scheduled for a match against University of Hawaii at Hilo on Friday, March 9. The Royals also have matches with Hawaii Pacific University and Chaminade University during their trip.
