RESULTS

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Bethel Royals placed third as a team with 98 points in the MIAC indoor championships over the weekend. "Our guys did awesome! I'm so proud of this group," said Head Coach Andrew Rock. "Not everything went our way, but we fought really hard through adversity."

The Royals won three events over the championship weekend: 4x200m relay (Malachi Lossow, Shawn Monroe, Isaac Erickson, and Karl Olsen), 4x400m relay (Olsen, Dan Wahlstedt, Evan Hatton, and Erickson), and the 400m (Karl Olsen). "Karl, like the majority of our athletes, ran his heart out this weekend," Rock said of the senior captain. Olsen set the school record in the 400m with a time of 48.82, breaking teammate Carl Klamm's record of 48.98 from last year. The Royals picked up 27 points in the 400m, placing first (Olsen), second (Klamm), fourth (Monroe), and fifth (Erickson).

James Moyer broke his own school record in the heptathlon with a score of 4673 over the grueling two-day event. Moyer placed second in the heptathlon. Boston Knighton-Johnson pickup up seven points in the pole vault, as he tied for second place with his vault of 4.35m (14'3"). The distance medley relay team of Ezekiel Lelinga, Dan Wahlstedt, Taylor Huffman, and David Huffman secured another second-place finish, running 10:33.10. Olsen also finished second in the 200m (22.20). Evan Hatton added two third place finishes in the 800m (1:56.35) and the 1000m (2:30.70).

The Royals will continue their season next weekend at a last chance qualifier meet TBD. "We hope to have a good sized group traveling to Birmingham, Alabama in two weeks for the national meet." National qualifiers will be announced on Sunday, March 3rd.
