Royals Post Solid Marks at Grinnell

RESULTS

GRINNELL, Iowa - Bethel's men's track and field team traveled south to Grinnell, Iowa to compete at the Darren Young Classic. "This meet is a highlight for us every year," said Head Coach Andrew Rock. "Not only is it a very competitive meet, but it's a chance for us to bond as a team on a longer road trip."

The men's 4x400m relay team of Karl Olsen, Shawn Monroe, Isaac Erickson, and Carl Klamm stole the show at the end of the meet. That team won the race with the third best time in NCAA Division III this year (3:19.28). "This was the first time that we ran our top four guys in this race and they hit their goal," notes Rock.

Olsen won the 200m race earlier in the day by running a 22.11, which ranks him 5th in Division III. That time was painfully close to Olsen's own school record of 22.10. Klamm added another victory for the Royals in the open 400m. His time of 49.38 is the 11th best time in Division III this year. Multi-event athlete James Moyer had a season best jump in the pole vault (4.30m/14'1.25") to place 2nd. The distance crew continued to produce personal bests. Sam Nelson ran the 8th fastest 3000m in Bethel history with 8:53.08. David Huffman ran more than 4 seconds faster in the Mile (4:24.91) than he did two weeks prior.

The Bethel Royals will be competing at the University of Minnesota on Friday, February 16th and at St. Olaf on Saturday, February 17th.
