NORTHFIELD, Minn.—Bethel's men's hockey team was flying high after three consecutive shootout victories and four-straight wins, but Saturday's season finale wasn't favorable for the Royals, as they dropped their final game of the year to St. Olaf by a final score of 9-1.
Senior
Kurtis Redding scored the team's only goal of the game on a BU power-play that was assisted by
Michael Piehler at the seven-minute mark in the third period. The Oles scored four more goals in the closing minutes, however, which squashed any hope of a fourth-straight overtime.
Bethel finished with 28 shots, while St. Olaf finished with 29. The Oles' Eric Hancock stopped 27 of BU's shots on net, while
Joe Sheppard stopped 20 in net.
BU says good bye to six seniors, who played their final game in navy and vegas uniforms. Those six players were recognized on Senior Night last evening at Bethel arena.
