Royals Cruise Past Carleton, 75-39

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – A balanced offensive attack sent the Bethel University women's basketball to a 75-39 victory Saturday afternoon on the road against Carleton College.

11 of the 15 Bethel players who saw action in Saturday's contest found the scoring column as the Royals built a 15-point halftime lead and never looked back. Bethel earned its second straight road win to move to 6-3 on the year and 2-2 in MIAC play. The Royals will take a two week break from competition before returning back to action on Dec. 28 at Lewis & Clark College with tip-off set for 9 p.m. CT.

Junior forward Taite Anderson and sophomore forward Makenna Pearson led the way with each scoring a team-high 13 points. Senior center Hannah Johnson notched another double-double for Bethel posting 11 points and 11 rebounds to go along with four blocks. Freshman guard Tessah Anderson came off the bench to add seven points, while junior guard Haylee Barker added a game-high four assists. Bethel's reserves helped fuel the victory as they outscored the Carleton bench by a margin of 30-4.

Carleton (3-8, 0-4 MIAC) jumped out to an early 9-0 lead before Bethel closed on the first quarter on a 13-6 to trail 15-13 after the first 10 minutes of play. Things took off from there as Taite Anderson gave the Royals their first lead with a 3-ball at the 9:34 mark in the second. The host Knights took back the lead for a short two mintues before a layup by Michaela Craigan with 5:35 remaining in the half gave the lead back to Bethel for good.

In the second half, Bethel continued to add to its lead outscoring the Knights 23-6 in the third quarter. The Royals grabbed their largest lead of the game at 75-34 following a layup form Sydney Blandin. In addition to its bench scoring, the Royals turned 28 Carleton turnovers into 32 points along with an edge in points in the paint at 46-14.
